MISSION AND PUBLICATIONS

Our Mission

ROMEL is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable people access a decent, affordable and suitable housing. Especially focussed on the housing conditions of ethno-cultural communities, and particularly those of newly arrived immigrants, ROMEL was established in 1984 and has remained committed to fighting discrimination in housing ever since.

As a collective of community organizations providing housing information, training and support services, ROMEL is a wealth of resources to facilitate welcoming and integration of this clientele. ROMEL is also a social economy enterprise working in social and community real estate development, with the mission to increase access to affordable and quality housing for all those in need.

Our force for action

• Our Technical Resource Group (GRT): Through its Technical Resource Group (GRT), ROMEL puts its expertise in real estate development and project management at the service of community housing.

• A concrete impact: Thanks to the support of our GRT, more than 3,000 community housing units have been created by various organizations rooted in their respective communities. Each new project is part of this same mission: building a more equitable world.

• Société de gestion Querbes: At the same time, the Société de gestion Querbes, a real estate management organization affiliated with ROMEL, draws on ROMEL’s expertise to develop and acquire housing projects. Now the owner of three buildings in Laval and Montreal, it actively contributes to the growth of a sustainable and equitable community real estate portfolio.
