ROMEL is pleased to announce the start of construction of 101 new affordable housing units in Montreal-North

Montreal, January 20, 2021.

This project, a joint initiative of ROMEL and the Logisplus organization, is being developed under the Accèslogis program funded by the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ) and the City of Montreal.

Thus, the SHQ is granting a subsidy of more than $ 6 million for the construction of this project and also guarantees the mortgage loan of more than $ 9.9 million contracted by the NPO Logisplus.

For its part, the City of Montreal is allocating more than $ 9 million to this project, of which $ 1.8 million is reimbursed by the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) through the Social Housing Fund, to which 82 municipalities are contributing.

The building, located at the corner of Boulevard Pie-IX and Rue Larin, will be ready to welcome new residents by spring 2022. It will provide affordable housing for families and individuals. It will also be close to services and public transport networks. The 10-storey building will have a community hall and 23 underground parking spaces.

ROMEL is particularly proud of this achievement, which represents the culmination of a long process spanning several years, and which required a lot of effort on the part of ROMEL team, Logiplus board members and the promoter GESCAM. .

Ultimately, this project could not have seen the light of day without the political support of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Ms. Andrée Laforest, the Minister for Transport, Minister responsible for the metropolis and Minister responsible for the region of Montreal, Ms. Chantal Rouleau, the mayor of Montreal and president of the Montreal Metropolitan Community, Ms. Valérie Plante, as well as the mayor of the Montreal-North borough, Ms. Christine Black.
